I don't know about Atlanta but you would get a first class job at Zuffenhaus in Charlotte. Not that far away for you.

There are a few places in ATL, depends on how much you want to spend. Why wouldn't you put a DAS, or such in there? Why a custom build? Just curious, as it cost a lot more for custom built.
Also, how is the body damage? I was expecting to see you at the shop afterwards! |

Derek,
You can spend less money for a bolt in cage. and, yes, it meets the minimum standards for some sanctioning bodies. However, the bolt in cage will fall short on proper harness bar placement for correct shoulder belt angle, and interior/driver comfort is often compromised by unnecessary zones of potential physical interference with the occupant due to the placement and proximity of cage tubing. We have cut out many bolt in cages over the years and replaced them with a quality custom cages - our clients have considered it a good investment in comfort, security, and incresed rigidity (better handling). Zuffenhaus has built many cages for PCA, NASA, SCCA, Targa Newfoundland, and Formula Drift. Unfortunately some of our clients have tested their cages - but all have walked away from those incidents safe and sound. When actual cost is taken into consideration and weighed against the advantages of a professionally built custom cage over the bolt-in option, the benefits in safety and rigidity easily justify the pricing delta (in comparison with a mass-produced, undersized, multiple segmented minimum safety device.) Included in custom cage pricing is proper mounting of racing seats, correct locating of harness anchors, and quality construction of the window net system (important for quick egress after an incident.) If any of you guys ever have the opportunity to visit the Charlotte area, please come by the shop where we can show you specific examples of the better safety solution and discuss your specific applications. I wasnt saying that custom wasnt better, obviously it is. I think it depends on the mission of the car. A full custom built roll cage in an everyday driver car with 1-2 DE's a year like Derek's is not practical was the point. Full race/DE car?, absolutely.
