Looking for this str whl...
I've posted on the classified "wanted" months ago without any luck, I thought I would try here to see if I could get a any leads on where I might chase down a new or used steering wheel pictured below - P/N 914431 (?) NLS
Thanks, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226951300.jpg |
I am sure you have seen this one before and don't want it, but in the 1:1000 chance you haven't seen it:

Thanks Rich, yes I have, the 930S is my fall back position. I like the pictured wheel because it has a round center which duplicates the round gauges on the dash, call me crazy...
I appreciate your reply... |
Mitch, you should not have posted this. Now I want one. Before, I didn't know there was anything like this. :(

Milt,
Well maybe two heads are better than one... I haven't had any luck so far. I've tried all the new and used sources. It's like they only made one... It was suppose to have been a factory option. Maybe if we can find one, we can find two, or three... dream on. |
Wow, never seen one like that before. Looks like a 930s with a custom-made center?
|
I had some luck looking at 928 parts and 968 parts in PET, but I couldn't find the exact application. I saw the drawing at MG 4, SG 03, page 403-05. But, if you click on the horn pad, it says "part unknown." That means the illustration is shared and the wheel illustrated is not from a 968. Shared with what other model(s), I can't seem to find.
|
It looks almost identical to the Momo in my car. The seams are exactly the same and the shape of the "pop on" center cover is the same. There are only 2 differences that I can see.
- One is the larger round "horn button" area around the Porsche crest. The center cover in mine is solid except for a smaller round hole big enough for the smaller standard Momo horn button. - The 2nd difference is mine has a small area covered with small dimples on the two horizontal spokes which mark additional horn buttons under the leather. Not sure what the part number of it is but I have had it since the early 90s. |
It's an aftermarket 930S wheel but with different pad.

Wow, now we're getting some where...
Thanks, |
It seems like something performance Product used to sell. Send a picture to Einmaleg and see if Brian remembers.
|
its a factory S wheel look with a rather different center cover
|
Dave, you may have gotten my em on this. It's illustrated pretty much as shown in the PET, cover and all.
|
Is it me, or does it look smaller than 14" 930 wheel?
I'm getting the bug now too. |
Is this the same wheel, only with a different center?

I think jonbot is on to something; the wheel on that car looks identical to the one your looking for Mitch except for the center. I suspect it's a MOMO wheel. It may or may not be available anymore, but I'm sure that center is NLA and was probably changed thanks to Porsche's legal team.

It kind of looks like this, but different centre.
