Black Stone Guard install question

I am going to install a set of black stone guards on the front side of the rear fenders. Is there anything you can spray/apply to paint surface to allow initial movement and adjustment of the plastic guard before the adhesive hardens and it sticks permanently in place.

Thanks in advance!
Mark

I used soapy water in a spray bottle. Install them like a decal on a model car. Lots of soapy water. A plastic Bondo squeegee works great to get the bubbles out.

I used a hair dryer when I was done as I did mine during the winter.

The best thing to use is isopropyl alchohol mixed 2:1 with water in a spray bottle. The alchohol evaporates quickly. Clean the area thoroughly, spray the back of the Guard liberally and apply to the fender. Using a piece of hard plastic (like a credit card) work the spray mixture out from top to bottom. How much spray you use depends on the temperature of the fender (applying in a warm garage is best). If it is cold use less spray rather than more.

Make sure you REALLY want them before you do it.

Removing them can also remove paint.

Dave did you try a hairdryer ? no kidding i,m a signguy and use something like that to take decals off.
I have one with a thermostat but a hairdryer works fine, heat up the decal and use something soft like a credit card to take it off.

I will try that sounds good ! i read alot on signforums but never heard that one. I do windows wet and it takes longer maybe this will speed things up a bit.

I use a drop of dishwasher ?? (sorry for spelling dont know the english word for it) in a liter of water. I would do them dry works best for me on smaller decals but if your not sure do it wet it takes longer but it is the safe way.

Cheers,

Ed

Dutchie,

I used to be a signguy as well and used isopropyl alchohol on large applications onto glass, car wraps and such. Works very well. Think I heard about from an old sign painter.
