Steve McQueen service record page
Thought this was interesting. maybe OT though. Warren

Thats cool....
He misspelled Hollywood. You'd think he would know how to spell his hometown.
Steve McQ did not misspell Hollywood. It would of been the delivering dealer that filled out the form. Steve would of accepted the documents when he took delivery. By then it would be too late to change. Being 1970, the sales manager probably had a buzz and goofed.
And 11969 Ventura Blvd is in Studio City not Hollywood ;)
Very cool find BTW |
very cool indeed  thanks for posting that !
Cheers, Ed |
This service record is for the "Le Mans" 911S?

that's a european hand writing style, especially the #1.
maybe european delivery for the movie? maybe fritz couldn't spell. yes i did stay at a holiday inn express last night. someone on the early s board owns that car. i'm sure he'd be pretty interested in it, if its not his already. |
According to the "Excellence" article on the "Le Mans" 911S, it was a European delivery.

I think it's North Hollywood. North is misspelled as well.
nobody has posted a Google sat. or street photo of the address yet...
I have to assume that this is a copy of the document that is still with the car, correct? If not and someone else has this original document, it should really go to Frank so it remains with the car.
I HAVE THE MAINTENCE RECORD;ORIGINAL BOOKLET STILL WITH CAR,THAT'S A PHOTO COPY;YES THE CAR WAS DELIVERED BY THE FACTORY TO THE SEThttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1227190579.jpg
That address was Solar Production's.
Scott, yes it is a copy that a porsche rep gave me when I was wrenching at a dealership in the 80s

Hello to all, interesting thread.
Here is a discussion about the correct one: Steve McQueen's owner's manual for his 1970 Porsche 911 S http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...0&d=1387672732 |
The one shown in the first post is a bit odd since it is for model year 1969 with only the 9 digit field for the VIN.
I am thinking I've read in "Excellence" magazine a couple of years ago, that McQueen bought a 1969 slate gray 911S before filming the movie "Le Mans", but it was not the car in the movie. The "Le Mans" slate gray 911S was delivered to him in France and was later shipped to the U.S. Both cars were purchased through his production company SOLAR. He ended up selling the one not in "Le Mans" and keeping the "Le Mans" car. I think maybe his kid Chad McQueen was interviewed for the article as well. I think this is right, but I do not want to go through the heap of magazines at my feet to prove it.
The '69 is still owned by Chad, the '70 S (Le Mans car) was sold via RM, and these are the papers of the RM car.
That address looks like it was for a production office attached to the CBS Radford Studio - in 1970 CBS was renting out studio lot space to independent production companies...
No replay, answers?
The owners manual , maintenance book, and every other original document went with the car, and RM sent them to the new owner in Germany, the only way to get the real documents is from the owner of the car, which I doubt happened

Steve McQueen-Boys Republic event.

Cool find.
I would like to know the original owner of my '74. I have a folder approaching 2" thick but there is a hole in the records back in the 70's and you can't see who it was. |
