Can Someone ID This Wire/Connection ?

Anyone know what this connection is for (green arrow)?

The one next to it goes to my old heater blower. The one in question looks similar to the connector that goes to the cruise control servo. But it IS NOT the connector to the servo.

Thanks,
Craig

I think it goes to the fan that was there originally.

Another possibility is that its for the rear wiper. My car is wiper delete but I have the same R/W ,Brown plug as that in my car. Looking in bently's it appears to be for the rear wiper.

Another post to confuse you, but I am fairly sure that looks like the connector for a thermovalve.

That's not the rear wiper. The wiper has three or four wires, I can't remember exactly right now. That plug is brought up all the time and nobody seams to have a definite answer. Most people find it taped back on itself unused just like it is in my car.

Are you saying that both connectors would go to the fan?

As I mentioned in my original post, the connector with the yellow and brown wire goes to the fan blower.

I don't have a thermovalve on the 82 CIS.

However, I know where you are coming from. My father's 79SC has a connection on his thermovalve that looks identical to the connector in question.

One of the connectors in the first post goes to the Rear Engine Compartment Heater Blower which in your picture is gone. Someone must have backdated the heat.

The other I'm not sure about.

You can identify the heater one by seeing if it has 12V when you pull up on the red heat levers between the seats.

GUYS! I don't have a thermo valve! My WUR does not have a vacuum! The line from the WUR to the throttle is an atmosphere line. This is an 82 CIS.

You all must be referring to part #24 in the diagram. I don't have a thermal valve.

Anyone else have ideas?

I looked at wiring diagrams for the 82 SC and I do see a Brown and Red/White wire shown going to "Warmup Regulator" and "Supplementary Air Valve" I'm not sure what these are since I'm not a SC expert. But it shows the Red/White wire getting it's power from the Fuel Pump relay so a simple test would be to put a volt meter across that connector and see if it gets powered up when the pump comes on.

My guess is that harness was for one of those 2 devices.

Here's a pic of the wiring diagram:

Even though you don't have a thermo-valve doesn't mean that the engine harness didn't still come with the connector. It's not uncommon for electrical harnesses to have connectors for items that don't exist with the car.

Great point. I considered this as a possibility.

I wish I could find out with certainty. Maybe some others with an 82SC will offer some info.

Are there any functions that you're currently missing that you once had?

My cab has the two-wire unused plug. It lives taped to the shroud under the airbox and you really only discover it when you take the fuel injection system off.

I looked through the 82 schematics and the only devices I found with Brown and Red/WhiteStripe wires are the 2 in the picture I posted above. I could have missed something in the schematic but do you have these 2 devices currently wired and then have yet another extra harness?

EDIT: One more place I found a Brown and Red/White wires is the O2 Sensor Relay, these 2 wires are used to pick/activate the O2 Sensor Relay, not sure where this relay is located?

I have had the car nearly 4 years now. It is hard to say if a function is "missing" b/c the previous owners could have made changes.

I discovered the connection during my rebuild. It was taped up and hidden from view. Every connection was accounted for except for this one - and I see no place for it to go.

But no, I don't have any missing functions.

You asked about a mystery connector, or something, awhile back. I remember it was a connector to the cruise control servo that you still had mounted at the left forward bulkhead of your engine compartment. This looks like the same connector. I'd have to check the wire color code on mine to confirm, but the shape of the plastic connector is identical, including the edge snap-ons. At the time, you mentioned you weren't going to worry about cruise control right away. If you still have the hardware installed, make the connection, try it out and let us know if it works.
