Death of a 993 GT2 clone......

The car was "borrowed" without permission by nieghbor kid. Mom and dad covered the car on their insurance, no charges. The pictures say it all...I got the car back from insurance an will parting it shortly. More to come in the 911 claasifieds shortly.

I will skip the actions and consequences rant, but there would be no way I could settle for "no charges".

No WAY I'd not press charges. Are you serious? "Borrowed without permission"=stolen. This kid will turn out to be a crook if he gets away with this. Sucks for your car too, looks like you had put a lot of go-fast goodies and time into it.

Man that was a nice car before neighbour kid wrecked it. Did he hotwire it or did he have access to a key?

Wow....That looks like a sudden stop - Was the "borrower" injured? Sad - looks like it was a beautiful car, too. I'm looking forward to hearing the "rest of the story".

Holy crap! Car looks like it was pretty sweet. Sorry that happened, have to ask, is the kid all right? That took a pretty hard hit. Hopefully you are made whole, and can enjoy building another. Good luck.

The rest of the story is, the "kid" is actually a good kid, worked for the prior owners race team, has access to shop, keys and cars. He was trusted and did good work. He made a dumb decision and took the car while the owner was out of town. The decision was made not to give him a felony charge on his record the week before he left for his first year at college. At 18 we all made dumb decisions, believe me he will be paying for this one for quite some time.

With regards to the car, what the picture doesn't show is that the roof is stoved on the drivers side, otherwise it would have been rebuilt. Even if the front clip was replaced the divers front A- pillar is bent and so is the roof. there is a 1/2 to 3/4 gap between the top of the door and the roof and would be cost prohibitive to fix.

With that said the motor and other goodies are migrating to my 86.

that'll buff right out.. j/k

first offender, then maybe no charges, don't want to start off a kid on the wrong side of the law. I'm also willing to hear the story.

I have co-workers with kids who are 18-19 and in Afganistan and face real life and death consequenses. Busted for stealing a car at 18 is stupid and sometimes stupid should hurt.

It was a great looking car.

Has this jerk been castrated yet? Why not? I'm one of those "retired" military guys who have NO patience for this behavior. One of the previous guys said it best: there are 18 and 19 year old guys facing the ulitmate and this nose-picker steals a car and gets away with it? Okay, I'll go somewhere and get my BP down. . .

Such a shame. Mind posting a pic or two from before the wreck? It looks beautiful.

Here is how the car looked when it was raced in SCCA in the late 90's. It was converted back to a street car in 2003 and painted all black.

You certainly have a big heart. I guess opinions will go down on both sides. I once borrowed a car (with permission) and did similar damage. No mommy and daddy to "cover the car on their insurance" (and how did they get away with that anyway?). So, I paid a lot more than he will be paying for this one for quite some time. And all out of my pocket with money made the old fashioned way, by laboring for it, having it taxed and turning it over to the owners until the debt was paid.

Do I respect others property? You bet for over 40 years now. I hope this skid mark of a good kid benefiting by "The decision ... made not to give him a felony charge on his record the week before he left for his first year at college" is not sitting in a frat house now with a beer and telling his new buddies about his joy ride.

Oh, sorry about your car, I really am.
