Car Dies Over 4000RPM

Hello all. I have a question/problem. This morning on my way to work any time I went close to/over 4000 rpms my car died. It started right back up and drove fine as long as I kept the revs low. The car was at proper operating temp as well. Then right before I pulled in I was at a light and the car died again. Once again it started right back up and drove fine. The only 2 things that changed recently are: I filled up the tank on Sat and I swept out the garage yesterday-not too much dust though. Any help or insight is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Chris

Sounds like a possible fuel starvation problem.

I'm not familiar with your year car.

Does it have a fuel filter (in-line)? At the tank outlet?

I'd start there.

whats the status of your charging system? When my alternator started to go it wouldn't idle (not enough juice) and wouldn't run well at hight RPM (not enough juice)

Did it recover on its own or did you actually have to start it?

Was the engine under load or just the fact you hit 4000 rpm?

If no to both I'd look inside the distributor to see if the repositioning mechanism is working assuming this is a DME car.

Hello. The car was under load and approaching 4000rpms when it died. I had to restart the car myself.

I'm not sure about the head sensor type. Please don't kill me but where is the fuel filter? Thanks.
