KTL,
Wow, this is something new, never seen one before. Lucky I didn't take the gland nut off.

Sherwood,
I didn't see any spacer when I took it out. From top down is the top nut, thin washer, thick washer with the locking tab, ruber mount, shock core (the rod), metal cover. Inside the metal cover is the ruber bumper stop, then a big plastic black washer-like on top of the gland nut.
I tighten up the gland nut and put everything back together. When I tried to put the shock up into the mount's hole, I had to pull the shock rod by hands (slow and not easy) and jack the strut up to be able to put it through the hole and up into the trunk area.
Yes, it's a little harsh compare to all my other cars but it has not ever bottom out so I don't think it's the bumper stop issue.

Actually, I was trying to fingure out my snaping/clicking noise before I came to this. Now after another test, I don't think it's my shock/strut which makes the noise. How I test was sit still and turn the steering wheel max to either side. I hardly can reproduce the noise. But soon I move, steering wheel is max to either side, then I have several lound snaping noise.

It could be, but I don't think it's the bearing since both of my front wheels are tight. T-bar? Maybe but maybe not because when I get under the car and ask someone to move the wheel up/down by hands, I can hear a tiny sound comming from the wheel/shock area. Well, I guess I need more tests.

Thanks all.

Late suspension details are out of my area of expertise. Maybe the spacer isn't metal but plastic/rubber. Maybe the SC/Carrera guys can offer first-hand experience. The archives will have plenty of info on ride height issues.

The arrangement of parts you mention is the correct collection of goods that make up the stock Boge assembly. Also, your method of needing to jack up the arm to get the shock shaft to poke thru the top mount is no big deal. I've had to do that many a times. To confirm, is your collar/gland nut on the strut tube a smooth outer diameter with an inner hex? If so, it'is the original Boge gland nut. See here, the Boge nut is the top picture

Boge Gland Nut vs. Bilstein Gland Nut

I suspect your clicking could be the steering rack? You say it occurs when you turn the wheels, correct? Get under the car and have a helper turn the steering wheel. Watch the accordion boots for the steering rack and see if they make noise.

Thanks Sherwood,

KTL,
No, the gland nut looks different. I can't describe the diff. do to my limited of terminology but it is different. At least I don't remember the inner hex. I think the inner is just rounded.

On the clicking noise (rather call it snapping noise), it is NOT pronounced when I turn the SW, but it is when I start moving after the SW is turned. Of course it does when I an turning the SW while moving.

turning while moving: noise, lound and serries of clicking/snaping
turning without moving, to either side: no noise
move, right after the SW turned (move in a circle, SW is hold still): noise, lound
moving without turning (go stright): no noise

Probably my fault, sorry about that. I assumed you were running gas charged inserts.
