Manometer VS. Synchrometer... who has used both ??
 

I am looking for feed back from those whom have used both of these, preferably so they can comment + & - of both... or if you have only used 1 of these, what are your impressions regarding ease of use, accuracy and what would you recommend to buy.

this is what I use, and everybody else I know. Pelican sells it. Write synchrometer in parts search.

I use two of them. Less aggravation than moving a single one around. They flow equally and easy to test on same air horn.

A good seal to the air horn isn't the easiest to attain and sometime a pia, but it's doable.

a manual throttle is great to have especially when setting up carbs.

thanks Ronin... I guess the synchrometer is the modern version of the manometer... ? I would guess that the synch is a lot easier, however, I was also wondering if the mano gave a more accurate readings, thus, worth dealing with what looks like a PIA to use the mano & possibly get a better tuned carb set up ?

I agree with Ronin, thats the same Synchrometer that I haved used for over 10years with great confidence (especially on those pesky Webers!).

I can't answer that question, but the issue is if the synchrometer's readings are consistant and equal with each other. That answer is a yes in my experience.

The gauge scale is designed to smooth out the roughness of the air intake making tuning doable. If it was a digital reading it would be bouncing all over and you would have to guess at an average reading. The lower cfm's scale are wider making lower rpm settings easy and the higher cfm's scale is narrower making that 3,000 rpm test as accurate as necessary and easy to work with.

Using one meter you have to remove and install it on different air horns complicating the various readings.

+1 on the synchrometer. I use it..it works well and is easy to read/use.

There is a JCWhitney product like the synchrometer which, while not quite as convenient, is perfectly accurate and will work just fine if you just check your carb adjustments every year or so...$30.

the mano will give more accurate readings, but not worth it

The accuracy isn't as important as making sure each throat, and then each side is pulling an equal amount of air - what ever that number is - isn't so important...

true - the manometer will also give better repeatability - but again, the synchrometer is just fine
