Help the new guy....Please.

Hey Folks,

Just took delivery of my new 33 year old 1975 911s. I had to meet the transport truck in the pouring rain and darkness but I drove her home with no issues. I will be ordering an owners manual this week but until then can someone tell me how to turn the wipers off............

After getting home and drying off the car and then cleaning the interior I started her up to listen to the engine and noticed the wipers on still coming on intermittent when the switch is all the way down. I'm sure I must be missing something simple but I have looked everywhere and can't get them to stop.

Thanks for any help, and I'll throw up some pictures if it ever stops raining......

Congratulations!

There's a little round knob on the dash near the speedo that is the intermittent wiper "knob." It operates COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT of the wiper stalk on the column, as you found out. Just turn the intermittent knob all the way off.

Rmally,

Being from the Pacific Northwest, I consider myself an expert at windshield wipers. If you have intermittent wipers, the switch is, as said before, a separate knob from the stalk on the steering column. It is below the speedo and just to the right of the steering column on a 1975. Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your decision to buy a great car.

Rmally, welcome! Pics of the car for us to enjoy. Don't get caught up in the new politics of the "tech" forum. The moderators are all on vacation.

Thanks guys.......found the knob, earlier I was trying to pull it not turn it.

Here are a few pictures taken in the garage, it's still pouring rain out so these aren't that great. I'll post some more "officially" when I can get the car outside in the sun.

Thanks again for the help.

Congratulations, welcome, and your car looks very nice indeed! Clearly a well taken care of pride-and-joy! Lots of mid-year folks around here so feel free to ask any and all questions about your particular model. You caught the "bug", bought your first "fix" (don't even think this will be your last P-car!), and now have offically joined the inmates in the asylum--all of whom are easily recognized by the s***-eatin' grins on their faces while driving their "addictions."
Enjoy! (Oh yeah, and get yourself an understanding wife, and ace local Porsche mechanic, and a money tree.)

Nice looking car there, welcome and be careful of that little knob it is fairly fragile and very expensive to replace unless you can find someone with an extra.

Thanks for the kind welcome, I have really enjoyed this forum for the last several months while I "lurked" to get more information on the 911's. I really do love the classic sport cars, and thank the Lord I do have an understanding wife.

When I drove a friends 911s back in late Summer I couldn't believe how it drove in terms of power and handling, while I am a true Z car fan the 911 has so much more raw power and feel....(Sorry Datsun). I also have a 356, which as you know is a pure joy to drive but on the power side is night and day to the 911s.

I'm sure I will have many questions, the PPI on this 75 model came back really clean, it needs a few little things but all the major updates have been addressed.

Here's a few pictures of the other cars, the Datsun 240Z is a 1971 model and the 356B is a 1963 one owner.

Thanks in advance for the help I'm sure I'll need.

PS.....I think I'll sleep in the garage tonight........I love this 911!

Randy

Nice looking cars! welcome to the forum. I also had a 72 Z same color and stripe as yours. My ex girlfriend asked why the side of my car said 24 ounce.
