87 or 89
Would an 89 be the same car as an 87 or were there any changes. Also being the last year would this have any bearing on future values?
Thanks,Marty |

1987-1989 Carreras had very few differences.

Yes, late 1989 became the 964 but he asked about the value as a "last year" so I assumed he wasn't refering to the 964.

I believe pre 1989 August production 911 are essentially the same as 1987 & 1988.

The 964 Carrera 4 was introduced in model year '89, but not the Carrera 2. The RWD version was still the 911 body style.

87-89 values
Quote:
Marty, IMHO no real substantive difference but there will always be a perceived difference in value for the last year a model was produced. Maybe the guys can give you an idea what that value is. I haven't a clue. Good hunting, Scott

The 89 also came standard with 16X8 Fuchs in the rear (16x6 in front).

The shift fork upgrade was done on all cars built after April 1989, I believe.

we have a person over here looking for G50 car... coupe.. the prices for some reason seem to be strong and there doesn't seem to be too many out there. Seems like these are still in the high teens or more for very clean garage queen's.
I have an 89 3.2 - brake light at top of window...redone top end and alll the clutch stuff. |

Stock fronts on the 89 were 6s.
So they are fixing your car? That's good, that looked like a nice car, would be sad to see it crushed. |

Same car in general.
Since '89 is the last year, all things equal, I would buy that one. Oh yeah, I did!

I realize that. I was responding to ShakinJoe's question and your response...which wasn't quite accurate. Late 89 was not a 964 unless you are specifically talking about the Carrera 4. The rear wheel drive version didn't change body styles until '90.
