I don't know about a '77 but '78s through '83s (and then some) don't have "wires off the back of the [ignition] switch," they have a fully pre-wired circular plug that presses onto the back of the ignition tumbler unit. Are you saying your helpful guy took the wires out of the plug rather than simply unplugging it?

I think I have that piece of harness . I will look up at the shop tonight, and If I can find it, I will send you pictures. I repaired a theft recovery( attempted) vehicle a couple years ago. They didnt get the car , but they sure butchered the switch and wiring harness trying.

When the key wouldn't turn off my '84 it was the mechanical key mechanism itself that was broken and wouldn't turn the electrical switch - which was fine. I tried to take it apart but that thing is IMHO non-serviceable. Now I have two keys! One for the door and another one to start the car. lol

If you thing it was too long, wait till he gets a period on that statement. I think he's not finished yet with the sentence......because a complete sentence ends with a period. Just having fun guys...... Tony |
