I made this and now can't seem to figure out how to get it apart (C2 lid question)

I guess I jumped the gun because I have no idea how this section of the lid, the movable part, separates from the integrated grille and underside. I see seams, but nothing is moving and no screws or detectable fasteners are to be found. I can get the movable unit off as a whole, but that's useless to me at this point.

Help from the C2, 993 guys! thanks.

OK, according to the PET diagrams, the 993 grille does come out separately. I don't have one to look at. Looks to me like the 964 unit (which is what I have) is bonded together.

No wonder no one has done this before. :D

no soup for you.

Milt, I believe that I also read that the piece is bonded and not really meant to be taken apart. I can't remember for sure, but I think Ronnie(RoninLB) had a write-up about this. Tony.

Milt,

I'm sorry I can't help, but I'm subscribing. Can't wait to see what you create next! Please keep us posted on your progress. Something between a ducktail and a Carrera tail would be really cool at least IMHO.

You're saying I should build a cantilevered tail off the movable portion? You know, the possibilities are endless.

Maybe I should start my own version of the "special wishes" program. You want a duck tail grafted on a fish's head, we do that. Then we call that a "dufsh." Or we could call it a, er... I guess I can't print that. :D

hi Milt & Tony

the rubber is glued to the grille.

I have the C2 Workshop Manual pages if you want me to fax them to you. It's mostly 3 pages on where to place the bonding agent, the actual agent's name, etc. It also has a good 6 page guide on replacing the parts together after you forget how to reassemble. I did even with pics predisassembly.

I taped off the grille and painted the rubber. The grille needs a little work but not much either with a spray or a small brush to get to the hard to reach places where the grille tucks under the rubber.

I'm using carbs and a couple of parts had to be removed to prevent hitting the right carb air cleaner case in the down position. No big deal leaving them off.

I also used a Cole-Hersee DPDT #58027-11-BP $13 momentary 3 position switch like what's used to adjust small boat trim tabs. Hold 5 seconds to raise it and 4 seconds to lower. West Marine uses # 147913.

I'll post pics if you want.

I don't have any rubber. Are we talking about the same C2 lid?
