Best place to re-web a six point harness
The Simpson harness on the passenger side is 5 years old, time to replace it. I can send the belts back to Simpson to have them re-webbed. But before I do, and recommendations for other sources?

Definitely Crow Enterprises. Unbelievably fast and curious service. And, Fred Crow ran the Simpson factory for many years. It's not even Bill Simpson's anymore.

Anybody know how the re-webbed harnesses play into the PCA DE rules?
Understand harnesses become non-allowable for DE based on date. - Once re-webbed the assumption is they become allowable? Also, some new DE rules require sub-belts if using harnesses... no problem - The other requirement is that if using sub-belts, the seat being used must have provision for sub-belt as supplied by the manufacturer In essence, if you ar using a race seat with provisions (guides) for a 4 point harness, but the requirement is as above for 5/6 point, one can't modify the seat to accommodate the sub belt. You will need to purchase a new seat! This is getting expensive huh? So, am I interpreting these guidelines correctly?

Simpson no longer rewebs, they will give you a credit towards new belts though. Crow has an exchange program for belts from other manufacturers.
once belts are rewebbed they get a new SFI label and the date resets |

Well, when they are rewebbed they are no longer "old belts". All of the fabric is new and the hardware has been inspected. Camlock and latch mechanisms don't tend to wear much, especially on a racecar where they aren't used daily. I have had a few sets of belts rewebbed (by Crow, M&R, and Autopower) and they came back as new. It cost me about $50 per belt to reweb versus about $200 to replace.

Today Crow quoted $100 for a 5 pt cam lock reweb.
Autopower only does Autopower belts, won't do my Simpsons. Cory got a link for m&r? thanks, Mike |

You may want to call and verify they do other manufacturers belts, the set they did for me was M&R. They can conver to 6 point for a few extra dollars too.
