Converting to Power Windows
 

I recently bought a 79 911 and want to convert to power windows. What all is involved in doing this conversion?

Is it a huge job and how much can I expect that something like this would cost me?

Door panels, switches, motors and lifts, window channels and wiring.
Not too bad o fa job.

You would need to find a pair of motors, which should cost you between 50 and 100 dollars. Probably closer to 100 when shipping is included.

You would need to find window regulators. Which would probably cost around $100 when shipping is included.

You would need the wiring from the doors. I'd imagine this would cost about $40 per door,

And you would need the switches, and door panels that accept switches instead of the winders.

I don't think you would need new window channels I think they are universal from power windows to roll up windows.

The hardest part would likely be the wiring. Swapping out the parts would be a pain in the butt, but not impossible. In my experience working inside the door is not a lot of fun.

I have some of the parts you would need if you decide to take this project on.

Also you can probably sell a good bit of your manual window gear to offset the cost. Might even be able to find someone to trade with for the cost of shipping.

Nope, I've seen thread going the other way though...
Gotta ask why ? You need expensive parts, it's not more reliable, need to do electrical work, I'm on my 3rd window switch just this week, I'd love a simple crank operated window...
It's also crap work, sliding all that stuff in the door opening, with grease and junk.... If I were you I'd spend money elsewhere ;-)

I built my own electric window harness. It was pretty simple. To simplify, I only have switches on the driver's side to control both windows. (passenger be damned if they don't like it). I imagine you could source a harness without much trouble, too.
