3rd break light replacement part?
 

I noticed today that the break light located on top of my rear spoiler on my 87' 911 Turbo was broken and flops around. I found one on this sight but I don't know if it is the right one since it says w/o Spoiler and I have a spoiler on my car.

Here is the part number that I found and I need black, is this the right one or is it for another car?

Thanks. I saw that one but it was a gray color. I need a black one and the link only says gray.

I have only seen black bodied examples of that type of third light. Maybe it is just a primer color and needs to be painted whatever color is desired?

I was just looking at these last night. New ones are white plastic and will need to be painted.

Did they come in black before or are the all painted from that primer one?

I don't know where your's broke, but I broke the brass mounting bosses off that are molded into the plastic on the bottom once when carelessly removing the car cover in a hurry on my '87 and it snagged the stupid thing, breaking it.

I put the 2 broken off parts back in place and mixed up a little 5 minute JB weld and glued them in place.
5 minute epoxy won't flow because it thickens up too fast so I mixed up a whole bunch of slow JB weld epoxy and poured it in around them. The inside of the mounting base is hollow so you can see how that would go...

Just leave a place for the wire to go, and if it fills with epoxy you can drill out the hole for the wire after it dries.
The slow hardening JB weld will slowly flow into the mounting base cavities with gravity, and it takes about a half hour before it thickens up so take a look at it every now and then during the first hour and reposition the brake light housing to distribute the epoxy flow where you want it.

After it hardened I sanded any extra off that may have kept it from mounting flush on the wing correctly.

I painted it the color of the car instead of the satin black plastic it origonally was and it's probably stronger than new with all the epoxy inside now.

It's not the first repair I've made on it.
Before I bought the car it looks like the brake lights stayed on in the past and melted the top cover above the bulb.
I ground the warped melted section out with a die grinder and carbide burr and skinned it with several layers of fiberglass cloth and resin.
Then sanded that and skinned over that with bondo.
Then sanded that smooth and primed and painted it and you can't tell it was ever repaired.

Sure beats $200 for a new one... stupid thing is still funky looking no matter what though.

I broke mine just like you did (the mounting boss) and thank you I will add the jb weld like you did mine is painted the color of my car and I used it to mount the sat. radio antenna on using double sided tape.

I will take a look at it tomorrow. I don't know how it was broken. I'll take a closer look at it tomorrow and snap a picture.

I had to repalce mine a few years ago. I was only able to find them in grey. I was told to lightly sand paper it, and put a piece of blue masking tape across the light part. I then spray painted it semi gloss black. It needed two coats and came out good.
