Strut O ring purpose/need
Can someone please clarify the purpose of the noted O ring (part #99970108450) on a strut, is it needed or can it be deleted? The struts on my car (71 911E) did not have the O ring when I took them apart.
Thanks, ![]()

More important; it prevents water intrusion and the spindle rust, early bearing failure etc. that comes with it.
