Clutch cable for a 1975 911

Hi All

I have a 1975 911. I broke the clutch cable the other day. My problem is i do not know which cable that i need to order from pelican. Also my release arm is bit odd. it dose not have a fork on the end where it attach to the cable. it look the cable have to be turn 90 DEG so it can be lock into place. If anyone know which cable i need it will be great.

Cable#1-- Clutch Cable (6mm / 6mm ends), 911 (early 1975) 911-423-401-03-M74

Cable#2-- Clutch Cable (6mm / 8mm ends), 911 (late 1975-76) 911-423-401-05-M74

Thank you

I don't have an answer, however, I do have a clutch cable, 911 423 401 00 with 6mm and 8mm ends.

You are welcome to it for postage, if it might help.

I wish I could remember exaclty, but I can't so I won't lead you astray except to say I believe you have the early cable if you have the 90* bend set up. I replaced the one on my 75 (early) and I think it had the same size ends.

However, after I did it, my mechanic suggested that I change out the set up to use a straight cable. Didn't pursue it so I don't know how difficult it is but he made it sound like a fairly easy change out. Maybe someone here knows how to get rid of the bend in the cable which is the critical wear spot.

cable

your throw out lever is a 75 only known defect, porsche changed the arm again in 76 so as not to have that 90 degree bend. there is a replacement part you can buy to update the arm and still use the 75 cable

Even though Porsche says that the 6mm/8mm cable is for "late 75-76" I seriously doubt any 75 models use this cable. My relatively early '76 (mfg in December 1975) uses the 6mm/6mm cable (I found out the hard way when trying to install a cable that the parts guy insisted fit a '76).
