door lock jammed and smile

Question #1
1980 911sc targa with power locks
drivers door knob wont turn, key wont work, and pulling on the rod directly doesnt move much.

previous threads were hard to follow and focused more on the power rather than the mechanical, so i hope someone can help with pictures. i disconnected the power actuator, hoping to isolate the mechanical.

here's the outside view with the actuator disconnected from the rod

here are a couple inside shots. not totally sure what i'm looking at or what its supposed to look like. does anything look bent / stuck?

Question #2, way off topic
rusted smile i've ripped off most of it without removing anything. do i have to take off the bumper in order to replace it?

What's the history on this door? Did it all of a sudden not work? Has it been progressively getting worse and worse until it ceased? Did you not use it for an extended amount of time? Is it below freezing in your area?

just bought the car, definitely has a history of leaking, and i have an invoice from 5 years ago from PO for 'repair door lock mechanism' (only 1/2hour of labor). other older invoices for repairing window circuit and motor for chafed wires. i think the lock has not been working for a while. weather just got cold.

Interesting that you uncovered your build number on the upper door frame. Or is that just a reference number?

It kind of looks like there is some rust on the mechanism, or is that just a fuzzy picture of grease?

If it's leaking and it is cold (below freezing). There is a good chance that the lock just froze. Happened to my 911, something froze in there and I just couldn't close the door. The latch wouldn't work.

Try a hair dryer on the area and see if it makes a difference.
