I think that's so obvious it goes without saying. That guy was lucky as hell not to be more seriously hurt, no question, and no one is saying otherwise. On the other hand without the cage, especially in an early 911 with the thin A pillars, they would quite possibly have been calling his family.

That cage looked compromised by the impact- I'm not sure they should have run.
