Early 911 radio install
Hoping someone with experience installing an old blaupunkt can offer some advice.
My radio seems short and won't reach the 'C' bracket that holds onto the back of the radio from deep inside the dashboard. So I tried to use the brackets that go onto the front right and left. The brackets work well, but they set the face of the radio too deep into the dash. As you can see from the attached pictures, the chromed faceplate is just even with the black vinyl covering. Ideally, the chrome faceplate should stand out a little bit from the black vinyl. Are there different brackets ... perhaps some other versions that don't set the radio in as far? ![]() ![]() ![]()

I just happen to have an old Hamburg on my desk today. You probably want something like this set-up.

Thanks Rich - I'll do the same thing.
Another question for you - your radio has the same speaker output plugs. Do you know if each of those can power separate speakers, or if they are both required to power one speaker (left and right)? I want to hook the radio up to a single speaker in the dash-center, but not sure if I should plug into one or both of those plugs.

It appears two holes equals one speaker and radios with three holes can run two or more, "...in shunt connection", speakers. Here's a page from the "Instructions" booklet from my '66 radio. Note the diagram on the right page.
![]() Make sense? Bottom line looks like, two wires per speaker, one in each hole in back of the radio. The next page in the booklet talks about hooking up the "picnic speaker".
