Sc hp

This is an interesting thread as I have a '78 SC that has a Jerry Woods rebuilt engine in it, circa 1996.
I found these charts in the paperwork I got with the car.
They dyno'd the engine after rebuilding it.
Max corrected HP was reported as 199.3 and max corrected torque was 189.7.
The car really pulls when it hits 4k and I'm happy to say the inside of the engine looks as clean as a freshly rebuilt engine, even though it has 60k or so on it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1229222668.jpg

From previous experience with my '67 912 and its dyno run, I'd say your problem is lack of fuel at the top end. When the 912 was run, they shut it down early because the AF was going towards 14 quickly and they didn't want to burn it up. After I put in the recommended main jet change it was a completely different car. Unfortunately I never got to run it on a dyno with those jets though. Seat of the pants was very telling though. Best I can describe it is, prior to the jet change, it was 'reluctant' to accelerate at the top end and I could notice a difference when carrying a passenger. After, it didn't mind passengers a bit and it sure had a lot better shove in the back too when you nailed it. Best $25 I ever spent on that car.

I wouldn't pick on CIS if it is set up properly. Especially with a working O2 sensor. Ran AFR 13.5-13.2: low to mid, settled in at 12.7 at high end. Just about ideal.

This is a pretty good stock engine: Summer 2005, 100K+ miles, 20W-50 oil, stock exhaust, Recent valve adjustment:

So, unfortunately for you, I'd think you can do better with your set-up.

I am not entirely sure that my AFRs were as high as the chart was showing.

They used an LM-2 to plug into the dyno. I recently used an LM-1 and checked my AFRs throughout the range (non-scientific, just looked at the readings as I drove) and they were lower than the chart showed. The LM-1 also matched up perfectly with a local shop's gas analyzer.

I appreciate you guys posting your charts too. It is nice to see a thread with dyno charts for various SCs. I can't recall seeing one anywhere else on the board.

It may be cool to start an SC dyno thread. I would like to post my initial dyno and then post follow up dyno charts in order to track progress in hp increase - making notes of engine build and what tweaks were done to improve hp numbers. Could be very useful to others.

My afr's look like yours, its just that I'm not getting enough fuel out of my system. The drive ability and warm up are nice to have, but the dyno shop thinks I'm topping out on my induction system.

I have another run with the O2 sensor connected and the factory mix that's a tad better, but nothing to brag about. I will say that, at least on the 80's the o2 sensor is crucial to the system.

Here is a thread posted by the original owner of my Targa with similar mods, only difference being the cams

With the old cams and intake, now on Webers and DC24s...

Wheel readings, uncorrected on Aussie machines...

As i look at it again that looks really weird...why would torque keep build steady to 6500 with no dropoff but HP dies at 5000? strange...
