door belt moulding tape?
Have a 77 Targa that I just repainted. Underneath outer chrome door belt moulding there was some type of thin plastic "tape" that was attached to the body. I presume it was to act as a buffer to prevent chrome trim from scratching body or seal around the body holes on top of the door, seven holes to be exact. I scraped it off with a razor blade before painting the car. Would like to put it back on. Does anybody know what it is or where to get it? Very thin, my guess around 1/32" or less, about 1/2-3/4" wide. Thanks all..

It's called fender/moulding sealing tape. If you call Pelican, I'm sure they can get it for you.

Any auto parts store has 3M double-sided foam tape for installing trim.

I use good quality electrical tape. Seems to hold up well over time.
Make sure to make slits in the clip holes with a razor so the trim will install easily. |
