Has Anyone Fixed Their Heated Seats?
 

The heated seats in my car have never worked since I have owned the car for the past two years. I heard they were prone to being left on, since there is no indication light to let you know and the switch is in a place where you cannot see it from the driver's seat.

These cold mornings, I sure would like to warm my tush. I have heated seats in my truck and have become quite attached to the warmth.

Is there an economical way to make these seats work? I assume the heating element is fried since the fuse is good. Could a GM seat element be used?

I would like to know if anyone has made their heated seats work again. Or, how hard is it to get to the OE element and insert a replacement?

Also, any comments about installing an LED in the dash to show when the seats are "on"?

911s have heated seats? Wow.

I notice you have a 964, you may wish to ask the 964 board about this problem.

Should be pretty easy to install since all the wiring and switches are already there.

I know that BMW has OE replacement, seat heating elements available, but I don't know if Porsche offers the OE heating repair parts. I have not had to repair my sport seats heaters, yet. I think it would be fairly easy to mount a "seat heating light" Good luck!! Tony.

As part of a restoration, I wanted to add heated seats for my wife. On the internet, I researched aftermarket heating elements that were easily cut into the shape of the 911's seats. They were relatively inexpensive and were installed as a part of the seat's recovering. The wiring harness was provided and my mechanic did the electrical set up.

The advice might not apply to you if you are trying to use OEM parts to fix your existing seats. If your car is old enough and you're not worried about any warrantees you may want to consider aftermarket.
