Bumperette Delete Ugliness

I removed the bumperettes "while I was in there" replacing the muffler. It looks like the part of each rubber strip that was slightly covered by a bumperette kinda pealed away from the bumper, as well. They stick out real ugly-like. Any suggestions on how to amend this? Some kinda adhesive or something?

Long term, I will either have the bumper totally done up by a body shop or just go F/G, but I'd like a fix for the (possibly lengthy) interim. Thanks.

Check this out. This is my friends 930 that used my 87 Carrera bumper. Some slick slots and modified Fiat bumper pads did the trick.

Not sure about the US bumper strips but isn't there a screw under the plug in the strip?

The attachment screws are under the approx 1/4 black plastic plugs. But they do not hold the inner ends down properly. The "spring" in each strip wants to lift it off the bumper on each inner end.
So barring the fiat or euro 911 bumperette solution, you may want to consider a dollop of glue; not too much as it will take the paint off when its time to remove the strip in the future!

Mine were like yours and would not lay flat. I added a small additional screw at the end to hold them down. I don't have pics handy, but will post some if you want.

I did the same. If you want you can cover the small bolts with some black silicone.

Have you tried taking them loose and bending the metal inside to make them lay down.

I did this

I had the exact same problem. To solve this I went to ACE hardware and bought some kind of generic button screw to hold it down.

The shaft goes through the bumper and has some threads inside the shaft. I then inserted the screw from behind the bumper and tightened it down. I did have to paint it black, but it worked extremely well.

Cool! I assume you had to drill a couple holes?

Yep. Just big enough for the shaft to fit through.
Maybe 3/16" or 1/4".
