Stebro exhaust?
Stebro Exhaust. Has anyone had first hand knowledge of this company and their products? They're out of Canada and do Stainless exhaust for all the high end european cars. How is the Quality and sound?

I'm surprised they are still in business. Had a Stebro on my Austin Mini y-e-a-r-s ago. It was worth at least 30-40hp...

The PO put a Stebro system on my '91 200 quattro, sounds verrry sexy. Don't know a thing about the 911 flavors, but a number of Audi S-car guys that are trying to get 400hp out of 2.2l seem to like them.

Thought I'd bring this topic up to date: I purchased mine (the so-called Racing version), on ebay last year for a Best Offer of $550, shipping included. Arrived in 2 weeks, easy install, and super lightweight! Not real loud, just about right, for me. The car (986'S') seems to rev a bit quicker, and this system seems to compliment the EVO intake. I replaced the intermediate pipes w/ Fabspeed-style straight-thru's, made up at a custom exhaust shop for 1/4th the Fabspeed cost. Lots of opinions out there on the Stebro system; but I'm as happy with this setup as I could be (I think), and got it all done for under $750 (muffler, pipes, & install). Highly recommended.

Stebro is based out of Ottawa (I believe) and are known for stainless exhausts for hard to fit cars. (Simca, Alpine, Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati, maybe even a Bitter) I had one on an ur-quattro and it was great compared to the options at the time. They are not finished perfectly and sometimes need a little fitting. A friend had one on a 930 when aftermarket options were few and it sounded great. They are well known in the collector car crowd in Canada. They actually ran an F1 car they designed at the Montreal GP in 1963. I have not seen one on a Porsche in 10 years though I'm sure they still make them.

Embraer; there are sound clips & videos @ Stebro's web page, but they don't do it justice..... All the good sound of my old GHL, but no interior res. They're way overpriced on their website, but keep checking ebay. When they have one for auction, they usually have a Best Offer option. Their feedback shows that they'll sell them all day long for $550.... so try that. Also, the Racing system is the one to get as the Sport system is way too tame.

Stebro's shop is about 2 miles from my house - very cool operation.
They custom made - as a prototype - an exhaust system for my father-in-laws jaguar V12. Very nice, super quality but expensive. I think they can make any sound you'd like. |
