Injectors won't come out on my SC

I have the intake tubes out of my '79 SC but I cannot get the injectors out. I hear that they should just come out, but even with significant force I cannot push them out. Any suggestions?

Thanks

soak them in pentrating oil, then put 2 large screw drivers on both side and pry them out.

I just put my foot on the intake and use vice grips to yank them out. If you're reusing the injectors, try not to damage the threads with this method.

I hope I can explain this correctly.

Get a 10mm (I think) open end wrench. Put it between the injector body and the fitting nut.

Get a screwdriver and put it under the wrench wedging it between the wrench and the intake runner.

Push down on the free end of the wrench against the screwdriver that's against the intake runner. It acts as a lever/fulcrum.

The o-ring will either stay in the runner or stay on the injector.

It takes some force to remove them. Use some silicone grease to lube the new o-ring on reinstall.

If the cis is off the engine, it's a great time to replace the phenolic sleeves and o-rings. See the threads on this.

Hope this helps. Cheers

I think there is a tool that will thread onto the injector which will allow you to pull them out. I saw it in the Bentley and would love to know where to get one.

I pounded on mine with a rubber mallet (from the spray side of the injector) and then had them cleaned and bench tested.

You will likely need to replace the sleeves, sleeve o-rings and injector o-rings. Parts are cheap and is worth doing with the CIS off of the engine. Same goes for the boots.

EDIT: The sleeves may be staked too so you may need to grind them off. I didn't restake mine b/c they seem to hold without being staked.

This is a picture I saved from a thread on this subject. It was posted by Jim Williams, but I don't have the thread number - the title was CIS Injectors.
