'88 with 10K original miles (Value?)

I had to take my wife's Kia to the dealership for service and met a sales manager who say a Porsche sticker on her car and told me he had a Porsche. He described an 88 Carrera cab with less than 10,000 miles on it that's he's has stored for many years. He said it has an unusual interior (Silver-blue leather) that was a factory special order. I haven't see n it yet but will soon since he wants to sell it. I've regular 88's going in the 15-25K range depending on the details but this one seems different. Can anyone shed more light on this car's probable value in today's economy? After I see it I'll have some pictures to help but he claims the car is perfect and that is actual milage.

Sounds like an '88 collector's edition. It should have diamond blue metallic paint and I believe 15x7 & 15x8 fuchs with body color centers. If it is a CE with 10K miles and it's in perfect condition it's definitely worth quite a premium over a normal 911 in the same condition.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you, but a 20yr old car with 10K miles that "has been stored for many years" is going to have all kinds of dried out engine seal issues as soon as you start running it for a while.

Pricewise, act like it doesn't matter it is a CE when you see it and see what the guy wants.

Sounds like a "Commemorative Edition", and those extremely low miles subtract just as much as they add value imo. Do a search on "Commemorative Edition" to pull up many threads over the years discussing these models...they're "not" that special, but all G50s are great cars . Ferrariguy sold one in the past year or so (similar mileage as I remember), for a LOT less than he could have, but he was in a "hurry" as I recall. "Perfect" will still take a lot of TLC to make it "really perfect", as rubber components, tires, and a car that isn't driven suffer with time, not just mileage. Do you want to drive it? If so, the premium (that he will be looking for) will vanish, and imo, you'd be better off with one that's been driven and cared for. BTW, mine now has 65K on her (with LOTS of TLC under my care), still gets mistaken for "new", and there's no way I would trade her for one like you describe. Good luck...

sounds like a great Barn Find. Even though it is recent, count on major services, PPIs into it to get it "right". Even a daily driver would get that. Once you do, it will be a score. It may have seats with Ferry Porsche's signature emrboidered on them on the headrests. Kinda ugly but collectible I guess.

Just keep in mind that if you plan to drive the car a lot and pay a premium for the low miles every mile you put on it is a very large depreciation hit. Not to mention the issues you might have with it sitting so long as was mentioned earlier (dry seals etc.) Be sure to post some pics if you get it. Good luck with the purchase.
