Mounting Fog Lights on a SC
I have a '79 SC Targa that I want to mount front fog lights on. I assume there are brackets made for these, but I can't find them. Probably a senior moment - can anyone point me in the right direction? Does Wayne have them here?
Thanks, JohnA |
The stock ones mounted to the valance, and stuck out in front of it below the bumper. I took mine off, never used them, got tired of replacing broken lenses, and really didn't care for the look.
In my opinion, the Later 84-89 style looks much better, integrated into the valance. The SC ones look like an afterthought. Tom |
Just to make sure I'm clear - the fog lights just bolt right to the spoiler?
Dumb question #2: Is the wiring already installed even if it didn't come with fog lights originally (like a 356?). Thanks for the help. I'm pretty comfortable with 356's and early 911's, but I'm not too familiar with SC's. I've decided to use my '79 Targa as my year-round daily driver and since I like to do most of the work myself, I need to start getting up to speed. BTW, I mounted Blizzaks on it and it performs phenomenally well here in Central Oregon. We've had some heavy snow in the last week or so and it handles great. Cheers, JohnA |
Here is the fog light assembly:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1229831133.gif The valence gets sandwiched between part 22 and 26. The hole for wiring is on the left side of the mounting holes for both sides: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1229831309.jpg |
Thanks, Won. Great help.

I've got a 79 SC, and plan to remove the fog lights like the red car above. If you need the parts, PM me. I can pull the lights, whatever they are mounted with, all wiring, and interior switch. The car is no garage queen, so envision driver quality. Can also pull and label according to PET and supply diagrams if needed. Looks like used ones go for about $100...

I'll be at putting my fogs on tom I can take photos of the process if you like

Best to take up someone on getting their old mounting parts. The fitting #27, if I remember correctly, has an asymetrical "bump" that allows for the curve of the bumper and the hole for the light can be positioned straight ahead by rotating the fitting. It's probably not hard to find new in a mounting kit but if you're offered one from an existing car, I'd jump on it.

I've got all the OEM factory fog light hardware for sale from my 1982 SC car I'm parting out, and mine are cheap. Both bulbs burnt out, one lens missing.
PM me with an email addy and I'll send photos. |
Did the car come from the factory w/ fogs? If it didn't, it will have a different valence; without the mounting holes.
