Bilstein inserts
Can anyone tell us the correct size for the split pin that holds the Bilstein inserts into the housing.
I always thought it was a 7mm in but no one has a 7mm pin. Thanks Lorne M. |
It is 7mm
Surely Pelican carries them? If they cant help you, catch up with me monday and I'll take care of you |
7mm x 45mm
I just ordered a few from Bill Stein (that's how they pronounce it) and they are a little less than $3 each. Surely freight will be thousands. If you can't get them from Pelican (sorry, I looked and couldn't locate them), just call the West Coast Bilstein office, as the East Coast Office doesn't make them anymore (????). Their number is 800-537-1085.
Best regards, |
I checked with the crew at Pelican and they don't.
But I have Steins in the family maybe I can get a discount on the shipping. I forgot to order them when I had the frt. inserts redone and I can't quite find where the rear shocks are hiding. They have been boxed and ready to ship to Bill Steins for overhaul for over two years now but I thought that I should finish one end before I get to the other. Lorne M. |
I called the Bilstein 800 number direct and the sent me a couple for the asking.
Also bought a roll pin punch from McMaster-Carr in a SAE size .25" that worked fine. Don't forget the 4 lb. BFHammer from Home Depot to complete the job. good luck Bill K |
I have 2 unused pins from my Bilstein install. I actually just re-used my original pins.

Mine weren't salvageable, they had been out/in several time by someone not knowing how to use a BFH.
if you would like to sell them let me know how to pay you. Thanks Lorne M. |
