Varioram 3.6 conversion questions

I am in the process of cleaning up the 3.6 prior to install. I have removed the SAI, power steering pump and bracket, and stock 993 heater blower components. My questions deal with removal of extra the extra wiring to the SAI, heater blower components, etc. Is there a way to delete this excess wiring without causing any issues? Also what vaccum lines can I lines can I get rid of? What do I have to keep? As well, do I need to replace cam cover on the right side of he motor for clearance or can it be left in place? Last do need to plumb all 4 O2 sensors or can I run just 2?

Thanks,
John

I just did a 95 non-vram conversion. ...but I am sorry I don't have answers for you as the motor I had was pretty much conversion ready and all the work you mention had already been done.
Now, before you get rid of your old motor, keep the oil temp and oil pressure sender as most likely your gauge and the senders on the motor wouldn't match.

Good luck!!!

John,

I did my conversion a few years ago and am having trouble remembering the details relating to your question, but I have a bunch of pictures posted in the "3.6 Varioram" link in my signature. Unfortunately, most of the pictures in the first few pages are now dead links, but there are still a few live pictures on page 4 of that thread. They show the engine 95% installed, and they may help you as you continue down the conversion path. Also, there are some excellent posts in the middle regarding wiring a diagnostic port.

Good luck!

BUMP!

Anybody out there, I would really appreciate some advice on the vaccum lines and wiring.

Thanks,
John

Regarding the wiring: I would not cut the connectors or something else of of the
engine wire harness. Just tape the plugs and connectors you don't need and bind them somewhere safe.

let me know if you need more info or pix.

Thanks,

Which vaccum lines do you need to keep? Also how many O2 sensors are you running?

John

I run in my Europe Vario just one O2 sensor but in my US 993 two O2 sensors. The pic is from my Eu Vrio conversion engine. If I remember right the one in the middle is the only important one. You need to route the middle one (in my pic above) to a vacuum reservoir and close it somehow. here another Pic I had:
