Hello all-
I am trying to get my plan together for reinstalling the A/C the my car's PO had removed. I think he had it removed while he had it in the shop getting the Ducktail rear lid installed. So I think I am missing some pieces I need for attaching the rear condenser to the underside of the decklid, and/or I think the ducktail decklid that was sold to him as an OEM piece, isn't. I was wondering if any of you guys/gals with Ducktails and A/C could describe (perhaps illustrate with a picture???) the attachment of the aforementioned condenser. As a secondary question, how can I tell if my Ducktail is OEM? It is fiberglass... Thanks. Chris Bunker 78 SC |

hello
Late Porsche Ducktails have a anodized steelframe and a Porsche Ordernumber in it. There are several series around. The very early with aluminium frame came with the first RS. Later, Porsche changed to steelframe on the RS. The aluminumframse used mostly rubberstraps as hold downs. 74 on are a bit different. They have thiker glas and are much heavier. To fit the condensor you have to mount it to the hinges and then fabricate a middle support brace. Maybe you can get a original one and prolong it. An other way is to use the 74 on heat/sound/electric supresion shield inside the ducktail and use that as base for the middle support. Or prolong the middle T-bolts and fabricate clamps to support the condensor. This support doesn´t have to bear high load it just stops vibrations. Check the clearance to the coil. Grüsse |
