I need help with anodized Fuchs
I have baked on water spots on the anodized portions of my Fuchs. I cannot seem to remove the spots with soap and water. I do not want to damage the anodized coating? Any ideas on what to use.
Thanks in advance, Mark |
There is no permanent repair you can do to the damaged anodized surface, but you can rub the anodize down with Vaseline and you can probably hide most of it.

If it is mineral deposits from hard water try water & vinegar.

Mark, petroleum jelly works wonders and removes the water spots beautifully. Just rub a light coating on and then wipe it down with a dry, soft cloth. The owner's manual recommends regularly using petroleum jelly to treat Fuchs wheels.

Vaseline works OK on the anodized part (OK from 10 feet). Vaseline works GREAT restoring a little depth to flat black paint that is discoloured.

A little PS21 polishing compound will work great. It is available from our host. I use vaseline as well. If it's cold outside, I find that it helps to warm up the wheels. I do this by removing the tire and wheel and putting both in a cardboard box into which I have cut a hole to put in a hairdryer. Leave it for a few minutes and the wheel warms up. I guess this opens the pours of the metal and makes it easier for the vaseline or PS21 compound to work into the metal.
