Adding techtron to gas?

Simple question.

Can I add Techtron to my tank after a fill up? The instruction says to do it before you fill up?

It's just so it will be mixed in by the pumping in of new gas. Just dump it in and go for a ride, it will mix in just fine.

Just don't add that extra T (Techron)

That's fine. A wrench told to only do it jst prior to an oil change as it gets into the oil and breaks it down... *shrug* no proof or facts here... just thought I'd mention it.

Where did that "T" come from?

I guess I will get extTra clean injectors!

There was a recent thread that included posts by some of our more oil-knowledgeable members that said changing the oil immediately after using Techron or Ventil Sauber wasn't necessary. "Change the oil after Techron" has simply been one of those articles of faith that we've all accepted.

And no, it never bothers me to add Techron (actually I use Ventil Sauber) to an already-full tank. Certainly letting a fresh fill-up mix the stuff thoroughly is easiest, but it'll migrate throughout the fuel pretty quickly with the car in motion. You could probably add it to a nearly full tank, pump in two more gallons and consider it thoroughly mixed.

Not all of us. ;)

But if you want to, the best method is to use it just before your scheduled oil change. That way you don't have to change your oil just because you used Techron.

And another thing....Techron is just one of many brands of engine treatment that are all equally good. I use Valvoline Synpower, for example.

"Change the oil after Techron" may be a rule derived from MFI motors. They are notorious for leaking gas into the oil as I recall.

The scope of the rule may then have been expanded beyond its foundation.

But... what is the harm in doing this before an oil change?
