Rear shock: torque with weight on the trailing arm?
 

Installing rear shocks on the SC. When putting the final torque on the bottom bolt of the shock to the trailing arm, do you apply torque with weight on the trailing arm? Or, with out weight applied, such as when you have the shock's bolt hole lined up to the trailing arm (to insert the the bolt and get the threads started)? Does it matter? Not sure if that makes sense.

If I understand your question, the shock bolt threads into a blind hole in the control arm and clamps the shock in place. Thus, the control arm acts like a nut. When you tighten the bolt, the "nut" should remain stationary which it will even if you don't restrain it. It's not going anywhere. Does that help? I would snug it up while the car is in the air, then tighten to final specs once the wheels are on the ground (I know, limited access).

I would suggest applying some antiseize lube to the threads. The threads in the aluminum control arm are part of a steel thread insert. You don't want any corrosion to form that would prevent removing the bolt down the line.
