Help! clutch pedal doesn't come up all the way
Hi-I have an 84 911. When I step on my clutch pedal and release it, it doesn't come all the way back up. It kind of hangs up there for a few seconds and then will spring all the way back up. I'd say it hangs up with about an inch of pedal travel left. If I mash on the pedal hard, and release it quickly it comes right up. If I hold the pedal down for a few seconds and come off it slower it will hang up. Do I need to replace the big spring that is actually on the pedal, or the one that is on the transmission? Thanks!

It could be the nylon bushing that is worn and binds on on the pedal shaft. Maybe time for a pedal cluster rebuild with new bronze bushings.

Funny, mine does the same thing and I love it as it is more out of my way for left-foot braking on the track! One man's poison is another's fruit!

I had exactly the same symptom on my '86. The problem is that the clutch cable needs a little adjustment at the clutch end. 5 minutes reading Wayne's 101 Projects book and 10 minutes under the car solved it.

Check the cable and the clutch adjustment itself. Mine did the same thing once and the stop nut had come loose and opened the adjustment. Do the cheap stuff (free) first.

Yup, same thing happened to me and cable adjustment fixed it
