When a targa roof is done right

Well having had two early targas and pre 73 coupes I now find myself with a 964 targa which is great fun - but I've read al of the Dan Petchel posts and everyones problems but just got mine back from full restore today here in UK.

Roof was stripped and re done and new latches and new seals all round- just drove and no real wind noise till 95 mph (not kmh) - before fixed it started at 40 mph and by 90 was unbearable......

Even at that speed I could make a phone call.

No whistles from behind / corners. Perfect. Quieter than my 70 coupe by far.

An did it in heavy rain - no leaks - as per pic guaranteed

I love targas , especially with roof off but now with it on

Paul

What happened to your headliner? Or is that a shot from the middle of your resto?

I wonder if any other targa owners cringed when they saw that pic with the hose. That must be one nicely sealed taga top, congrats.

yes thats during resto , and yes I cringed when I saw it - the told me that at the factory in the 70s it was the 20 mark note test - they would put a bank note between glass and side seal and if right it would only pull out with force ?

thats was the mark note targa test - so I' m told !!

actually it seems most of the work to sides was done with qtr windows and glass , and as Dan has always said , the front seal - at least looking at the hours sheet !!

I love the color!
I'm working on sealing my Targa with its rebuilt top. Hopefully soon I'll be able to post my successful methods.
