Window motor difference

Anyone know the difference between a coupe window motor and a targa/cab window motor? Particularly interested in the mid year range. Mostly just curious as to why they are different part numbers.

the stops are different....cab window goes up further then a coupe

Well, the motor itself.....(see at bottom of link)

A cab window motor is double the coupe window motor? What makes it so special?

From what I could tell as I just worked with this a few months ago. The mounting holes are slightly different. I believe the one for the couple stick out a bit further than the ones for a cab. It looked like to me they could just be machined off. If just the motor is bad you can take the motor off of either and put it in on the gear box. That is what I did. I took a coupe motor and put it on a cab gear box. Works OK. It is a little bit slower than the other side but that might be the way I got it adjusted or it might be due to lubrication. Other than the mounting holes I couldn't find any difference. They are only like 1/8" different and would effect the position of the small gear on the regulator gear. [edit this was for a 1984 cab]

I don't think the motor itself has a stop. It is just a simple worm gear reduction.

The mounting stand-offs are shorter on the cab/targa motors. The shorter stand-offs center the regulator gear on the motor drive gear. It also allows the regulator gear to ride on the nylon guide on the side of the motor.

My 1986 turbo coupe calls for a window motor p/n 911-624-015-41-M14 also used in a Targa & Cab 1986-1987. They look very similar with the exception of the power hook up location often shown in pics on the under side ( maybe someone changed mine with the incorrect part at some time. I dont understand why a turbo coupe would be any different than a regular coupe ( window motor that is ! ).
