Question Early Dash Speaker Grill

Does anyone know how these were attached to the dash? I see where the 4 posts fit into the dash but they're threaded and I don't know how it would be possible to screw them in without removing the dash??????? Help please.

thanks

They don't screw into the dash. If I recall correctly, the holes in the dash should have plastic/nylon inserts in them to receive the "threads" on the studs of the speaker cover, and the speaker cover just pushes into the opening. Possibly the receiving holes in your dash don't have the inserts. Send a photo if you can.

I see this part number from our host 999-591-311-40-OEM. It seems to be a universal dash and door plastic clip. Would this work?

Looks like it might. Maybe unpop one of the door panel edges and look at the size of the clip that goes into the insert to see if its close. Or, remove one of the inserts from your door edge and see if it works with the speaker grille. You might even try some plastic screw anchors used for attaching things to drywall--get them at the hardware store--they come in various sizes. Also, you may find inserts at the local car parts store.
