964 Modification questions

I am pretty good when it comes to using tools and know my way around a engine but I just had a few questions about how hard it is to work on a 964 engine when it is still in the car. I will write a list of Regular Maintanance/Modifications I will want to do to my 964 once I buy one and I just want to know how hard it is to do or if it is even possible to do with the engine in the car.

1. Upgrade Exhaust
2. Upgrade Headers
3. Change out/Upgrade Airbox
4. Change Spark plugs

And what are other good Power making modifications that can be done to a 964 which are fairly simple (What I mean is not changing internals).

You may want to post this on the 964 forum....while some here have done conversions and run these engines, you'll reach more owners on the proper forum.

Upgrading the exhaust (primary & secondary mufflers, bypasses) is fairly straight froward. Oxygen sensor on the cat can be hard to remove. You might want to do the spark plugs at the same time, since you have to remove some exhaust system parts. 12 plugs 1st time took me around 3 hours. Things are very tight on the upper plugs. Make sure you have a good socket that grips the plugs, and a flex extension. The one in the Porsche tool kit works well. You will have to remove various items to access the plugs.
Changing the airbox is not difficult, also a matter of working in a small space.
Exhaust system modifications will yield only a small increase in H.P. Air box modifications will give you some better sound, but no real H.P. increase.
Some people change the computer chip, search the forum about how this may effect or not effect performance. Like anything else, working on a Porsche engine is a learning experience, and these forums are a great place to gain experience.
