Thanking my Wife.

Yesterday it was probably 75 or so and no wind. The 356 and 930 had not been driven in several months and since I don't keep them topped off and gas is 1.59 for premium here, why not get them out blow out the cobs and fill er up wih ethyl.

First out the 356. A couple of squirts of starting fluid on the k&N filters and she fires right off. For some reason the quality of our gas around here is that I've had trouble with debri in the idle jets. For anyone that knows about Webber's you know a plugged idle jet is bad. Anyway out for a 10 mile drive to get the oil temp up. I'd spotted numerous highway cops out earlier I should have known.

The 930 is next. Last time driven late October when my son was home from school for a weekend. So I go fill up the tank with the high octane stuff. 14 gallons out of 22. It already had about 50/50 101 octane mix. Oil temp up to 80c my wife on her first ride in probably several years. I excercise the waste gate in first second and third which get you in triple digit speeds in seconds. Back off, crest a hill doing 70 in a 70. Highway Cop flips U wth? Pulls up behind me and I'm thinking it is the expired reg and insurance stickers is what he saw. He looks at me and I point to the stickers explaining it was such a nice day, cheap gas, we just had to get it out. Nah, he says, it was the missing front plate. I have a Ruf front end monster oil cooler up front. So I tell him there isn't anyplace to put it. He tells me they must have kits. Then. What kind of power this thing put out? I tell him mid 400's at the rear wheels and it weighs 2600lbs. He says. Wow pardner. I'm just giving you a warning that is one cool car, I've never seen one of these up close. Jeez, wink wink nod nod to the wife. He comes back gives me the warning and tells me have a nice day.

Wife not there I would have been 2xover. Whew.

Gotta love the wife helping out, even if she's an ex. Last week I was on my way to work, on the phone with my ex, planning Christmas morning with our daughter. Look up just in time to get hit with laser. 45 in a 30. Apologize to the officer, explain I was on the phone with my ex and wasn't paying attention. He's in his cruiser for a few minutes, comes back and tells me to have a nice day. He has an ex too and knows what those conversations can be like. Gotta love it.

I'll post some from work in a couple of days. I'm at home so I have to keep it home safe instead of work safe. Really.

I dislike cops. They are relatively useless. I went out with one a few weeks back on a shift.. what a joke. Everything you think they are they are. sure, there are some good ones but most of them just suck.

First off they are profilers from hell. If they dont like what they personally see you are screwed. So if they dont like guys driving Porsches.. forget it.

At least this guy did the right thing based on what you told him. BUt lets face it.. if the wife werent there youd have been screwed... He just didnt want to look like an ass in front of the lady.

Also, and trust me on this.. the young ones are the ones you really gotta watch out for.. they are out to write as many tickets as possible and they look for all the crap they just read in their academy books.. they are nightmares. The kid I was riding with pulled over a guy cuz his megnetic dealer plate was not exactly where it should be.. Im like you gotta be kiddin me. Pulls up the guys file and he is a woman beater... so he sticks it to him.. takes his LED light and shines it right in his eyes. And yeah, he told me he did it on purpose.. whatever...

To any cops on here: Do your damn job.. protect the citizens.. tell them to take their quota and stick it somewhere.

That being said, Im thinking about becoming a cop.. Charlotte has a great program.. they pay you to go thru the Academy.. be a good change in lifestyle for me.. And Id try like hell to be one of the good ones. The problem is the "system" turns you into a crazy a hole. Go out there and write some tickets boys! We need the money to pay your wages. Damn.

maybe you should rethink that becoming a cop thing. I sense a real chip on your shoulder about PO's.

EDIT: The wife beater should be treated like a criminal, CAUSE THEY ARE!!!!!

In my experience - the officer will treat you the way you treat them. I've had may share of run-ins and even had a pleasant ride in the back of a car once (driving on suspended licence).
The officer actually told me he felt bad about having to take me in, because I didn't give him a hastle or try to make excuses. I was wrong and he caught me.

I was pulled over two days ago for an expired inspection. I explained that it was my wife's car (blue Lexus SUV with 2 child seats in the back, clearly a mom-mobile) and that it was my first time driving it in a month (expired in Nov.) and that I hadn't realized it was past due. He didn't hastle me and just requested that I get it taken care of ASAP. He was a young guy as well.

When you get pulled over, be honest, have everything ready for them, and greet them with a smile. Your chances of being treated reasonably will go up significantly.

So I assume that if someone is kicking your front door down at 3 in the morning you aren't calling the cops becasue they are useless, huh?
I don't have problems with cops because I don't do anything to get their attention. When I want to open my car up I choose my spots.
Could you imagine what the roads would be like without traffic law enforcement? Think of millions of ricers doing whatever they want. Would you like that?
Cops do a difficult job for relatively low pay and potentially may have to risk their life on certain days as situations arise. For that, the good ones and the bad ones have my respect and gratitude.

I dont need to rethink it at all. A criminal is someone who does something wrong. This guy made a mistake 10 years ago.

See, I am speaking from EXPERIENCE not gossip or speculation.. see I went out and actually spent time with these idiots. I'd call that research and homework and not just moronic statements like the one you made without knowing the details.. see, I HAVE the details. I have been 3 shifts with different cops and its all the same BS.

Maybe you should consider giving advice about a subject you have actual experience with.

Good points.. Would I call the cops? Last thing on my mind would be to call the cops. First thing on my mind was how many rounds are in my mossberg 12 guage?

Ricers? ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I have spent hours trying to get the cops to fix the ricer problem here! This is hilarious that you would bring up this. They are useless in this regard.. the only problem they can fix is one that is occuring in front of their eyes.. they have NO motivation to devise a plan to deal with the problem.. furthermore they wont even uphold the law! Our law specifically states that you CANNOT modify your exhaust system. But they will not use that law because of all their buddies on harleys riding around with baffles out.

Pretty damn funny man.. you go try and get your cops to stop ricers.. lol..

And as far as risking life.. of course they do.. hell I did when I went out with them.. I was at a door with 6 cops serving to a violent criminal. They dont take many chances my friend.. the # of cops killed from a statistic standpoint is like getting killed in a jet vs. car.

You all like to point the finger but next time you get pulled over for something stupid and then get the book thrown at you for this and that you'll all be singing a different toon.

Here is one word that is NOT in a cops vocabulary: discretion.

Unsubscribed.

Honestly, Id have givin' you the violation. I dont see the point here at all.. and if you want honesty stories:

Pulled over for making a wrong turn:

Cop: Why did you put the seatbelt on after I pulled you over?
Me: Because sir, I did not want a ticket, I cant afford it (was 20 something).

Ya think I got a ticket? LOL.. Hell yeah.. he just wanted me to admit it.. if I had said, officer, It was on.. you must be mistaken.. he would have let me go.. LOL.. you guys crack me up.

You are correct, I have not spent time out on patrol with ANY officers. I have, however, had my share of run ins with them and spent time in jail for threatening an officer. So I guess that is my experience.

I USED to have a an attitude similar to the one you seem to have toward officers.

Once I realized that they really pretty much leave you alone if you aren't doing anything wrong, things seemed to work out pretty well. When I was pulled over it was because I deserved it.

I know good cops who try very hard to "Protect and Serve" our community. I'm sure there are those out there that are bad.

My point was simply that going to the academy with a chip on your shoulder might have some negativity coming your way from folks in the LE community.

I had wanted to become a MSP Trooper when I was younger. That would have been a huge mistake as I know that I would have not been a good officer, for various reasons.

If you decide to try the academy, I wish you luck in the endeavor and hope that you DO turn out to be a good cop.

Don't forget your Porsche buddies, though.

Again, not an attitude when it comes from experience. I never said there werent good ones.. remember that.. but they are few and far between.. If I went thru the academy I would do everything to be the opposite of what I witnessed.

Ok outa here... this is just gonna get nasty.
