carpet flame retardant
Is automotive carpet flame retardant. I bought some lightweight indoor outdoor carpet that appears to be nylon. After putting it in I wondered if it should be flame retardant. I tested a piece and it is anything but flame retardant. There are treatments but is standard automotive carpet flame retardant. This stuff was cheap at $.44 per square foot. Cost $25.00 to do the entire car. It would make a nice pattern if I could find light weight flame retardant carpet. Was just trying to quiet down the resonance of the car. Very loud inside fine outside.

Well I dug out some of the old interior and set a torch to it. Burns just as bad as the indoor outdoor stuff did only makes more smoke. Hey at least the new stuff won't polute the air as the car burns up.
So I guess I will leave it in there. I really am not finding much for fire retardant carpet. Seat material however is another story.
