How to remove old vinyl smell?

Have you experience with removing odor/smell? I just have 930 with all around leather interior but I smell old vinyl or plastic. It could be from cheap plastic cleaners or so. Have idea how to remove it. (First I will clean car several time) The same problem is from heating and vent - old smell typical for 20-30 year cars. What to do? Clean air condition ? OK it is easy but good enough ?
Next problem all leather is to shine (once more somebody use cheap cleaner or shine spray) - any idea to mat it?

Could be the rubberized horsehair padding in the seats. Porsche and VW.

I've had people get in my all leather 911SC and say that it smells just like their old beetle.

Bet that's what it is.

oh yeah been there,

worst offender was the carpets, dry them out or replace them, and seal the door membranes to further prevent further water ingress.
clean the leather down with the household leather wipes, several times till no dirt pickup, and seal with a conditioner.
clean the interior glass,
then use a loads of contact bacterial air freshner and leave closed for several days.

Cheers, Jaz

I always thought these cars must smell like this. My 78 SC is like this.

When you get in the car it smells like an old beetle. After driving a mile or two it starts stinking like burning oil, and after 10 mile you get used to it and it feels great!

However, I agree, most of the smell coms from carpets or anything which has no solid surface.

Cheers
