87 911 Wheels questions ??

I have a 87 911 that I bought a couple years ago with 17" cup style wheels. I am buying some 993 17" wheels that are OEM porsche the cup wheels are not OEM they are Italian. My question is the current cup wheels have offsets of 15mm front 23 mm rear while the 993 wheels have 55MM front and back, I have been told that I can use 1"spacers. If this is true what spacers work the best, does using spacers have any adverse impact on stuff like wheels bearings, my cup wheels use a taper style lug nut what does a 993 wheels use. Thanks in advance to all the way smart guys that post on here. Jim

You probably have that backward for 7 - 8 front ET 23 is about right, and for a 9 rear ET15 is about right.

spacers decrease the ET by the width of the spacer, so to get an ET 55 down to an ET 23 you use a 32mm spacer

Only that I would use the correct width and o/s wheels on my own cars

No spacers allowed
