3.2 DME Experts please, is the ignition coil igniter on board or externally?

Does anyone know if the ignition coil igniter (driver) is on board (in the DME) or external?

thanks in advance!!

Not an expert but it is in the DME. FR Wilk's site seems to be down again but when it comes back look at the DME schematic. The driver is T501, T503 and T504.

I think T502 and T505 are a differential amplifier that limits the current through the coil to about 8 amps.

Dwell and spark are controlled by the 8051 derivative micro controller.
