I'm looking at purchasing this car.

Can anyone help me identify this Porsche? Model, year, etc. And what features this vehicle might have had had.

That thing has been modified extensively. Without a VIN there isn't much to say that isn't just a guess.

Based on the seats having head rests and the mirrors I'd say it's an early car, except it has black window trim, but that's all I have.

"IF" the steering wheel is original, it's 78-84. Maybe someone will correct me if the three-spoke wheel can be found in Mid-Year cars. :confused:

Looks like that car has been through a lot. You're going to go through a lot if you buy it. Nothing wrong with that, though.

I think you're right about the wheel. Those seats don't look OEM. Maybe they are 930S seats?

Post the VIN and we'll tell you everything you need to know.

Absolutely must have a VIN, as stated before. So many mods have been made there is no way to know if anything in the pictures is from the original car--not even the knobs on the dash.

1977 or later doors, I believe 76 was the last year for operable door vent windows.

You need to find the VIN, engine number and type and post those if you want more details. If it is a middie (74-77) engine (2.7 liter) then there are a bunch of items that need to be checked there. Even a 3.0 could have cylinder stud issues requiring a teardown.
I am sure it is tempting probably because it is inexpensive (to start) with but just a correct motor rebuild alone can run you $6 to $10k. Not to mention, trans, clutch, wiring issues, paint, brakes...you'll be upside down real quick. Who knows what you'll find when you start digging deeper. If you want to proceed anyway, get the car inspected by an independant shop that specializes in Porsche. You can ask for rx's here for your (or the cars) location. At least you'll know what you're buying and what it will take to get it to be what you want.

+1 on the vent windows not functioning after 76', other than that, not much help without the VIN. It should be located in several places, drivers door latch pillar, on metal tab on drivers side windshield "A" pillar, on the flat stamping surface inside the trunk between the fuel tank and the smugglers box lid, etc. Engine numbers on right side vertical fan housing mounting area. Those seats look like 80s recaro electric seats or knockoffs I looked at a set back then and went with something with more support. If you buy it get rid of the narrow body valence and get a 930\911 RSR valence and repair the fenders.

All the details point to a MID year. The vent windows have been fixed since 69 on coupes. The three spoke wheel has been used since 74. The full unpleated door panels are 74-76. I think this car is very interesting from a looks stand point. the front bumper with its head lights and oil cooler is great. the wide wheels are great if they are Fuchs they're worth more than the car. Too bad you wont be able to find tires. I say research it more! Get the vin and engine no. And WE NEED MORE PICS!

Yep.. looks like a "middie" to me as well.. again based on the vauge interior shot. The seats are Recaro Model "C" seats from the late 80's .

looks like a cool project to me. +1 on the front bumper - or at least reshape the front of the front flares to match up to the bumper. Those are definitely the Recaros, or at least knock-off's. Depending on starting price, if you had the money, and the underbody and suspension are decent, I would buy it and find a nice 3.6 to stick in it and drive the heck out of it. Front end looks like it was inspired by 935/934 maybe.

When that car was put together there were narrow body front valences that mimicked the real thing so it could be bolt on. It looks to me they took one of those and gave the flairs a radius to match up from the picture looks like they did a good job but the problem is all the air the front tire catches from the cut down it has to affect the aero on the car. With a little work you could have a baby brother to 930Reaper.

Oh by the way the seats if they are recaro in the late 80s were over a grand a piece for leather.

Fat 380mm steering wheel might indicate Carrera chassis. VIN is the only
sure way to know.

early carrera? there is way too much vintage aftermarket on this to be late model but you are right VIN is the only way to know.
