sporto questions no spark

hello

I am trying to get a a 70 911 sporto running, I am not getting any spark, but before I test cds system, i was wondering if because it is spotomatic , do i have
to do something special to get spark/start ,
the car is in "N" and no brake on
thanks i know it a dumb question , but since it is 'AUTO" i was thinking there might be something about the spark./ start

thanks

Do you hear a whine or any sound from the CDI when you turn the ignition on?

if the car is cranking over then it has nothing to do with the sporto tranny. your car shouldn't crank if in gear should only crank in park and neutral.

check the points and all basics if the cars has been sitting i like to roll every fuse in its holder as it will help making contact if a bit crusty.

cheers ed

You are right. I understand that Permatune's do not hum/whine.

Did this happen suddenly or has the car been sitting for a while?

Is there voltage at the coil? Have you tested the ignition coil?

The sporto usually will only prevent the car from cranking if it isn't happy.
