Post uh ohh!! Electricle prob of some sort.

Well here it goes. The car was running then started to buck under acceleration and progressively got worse untill no power and forced to pull over. The car would not turn over. Jumped the car and it ran for a few miles then the same thing. Does this sound like an alternator or regulator prob. The batt indicator light does not come on when the key is turned but the bulb itself is fine. thanks in advance to all you guru's

Sounds like an alternator to me. I would replace the bulb or at least check power to the bulb. If the bulb is burnt out the alternator won't charge. Pelicans has a good tech article r/t alternator replacement and also describes how the warning light will react when the alternator goes out in different ways...ie diodes, brushes etc. Do a search through the tech section. If I remember right, if the alternator goes out in a certain way the light will not burn. You could also charge the battery, then check voltage at battery with engine off(should be around 12.5-12.8) then with engine running(should be 13.5-14.5)at around 2000rpm's I believe.
I just had my alternator rebuilt at a cost of $80. Two weeks later I lost all power and realized I forgot to replace the warning light bulb that I had removed to check during the rebuild process. Replaced the bulb and charged battery and all is well now. Good luck

See the "lurching cab" thread ... sounds like it might be your throttle switch too ... unless you're saying that the idiot light does not come on with the key turned on but the motor not running. If the car idles correctly, try replacing the throttle switch.
