964 Odometer Stuck

Same problem as the 911 odometers? Needs a new gear most likely?

I had the same problem with a Toyota Avalon (pre-electronic odometer). I did it to myself by resetting the odometer while the car was moving. Ruined it.

Probably the previous owner did that. There is a bit of evidence he was not too bright.

I will order one online.

If you mean the parts, I'm sure you can find them. You may want to see if you're comfortable working on it first. They're sort of like a pocket watch inside.

I don't think I'd drop the money for a new speedo however. There are a few good vendors (North Hollywood, etc.) that will repair yours. Do a search for vendors here. You may want to get a quote on repairs first.

I was a bit unclear, I meant to say I will order a new gear online. I am way too cheap to buy a new odometer. Wayyyy to cheap.

odometergears.com is a bit vague about 964 gears. I guess I have to remove the speedo and count teeth before I order. Then drive around with no speedo while I wait for it to arrive.
