Passed smog!

Just thought I'd let EVERYONE know my car passed its smog test today.
It'd been sitting for two weeks, drove it to work this morning and stopped at the smog only test station just to see what would happen.
One year of ownership down, who knows how many more to go!
YeeeeeeHAAAAAA!

thats too bad. 25yr old and older cars here dont have to do smog tests. at 30+ they qualify for CV plates and you pay once and are DONE!!!!!!

Congratulations Scott! That's one PITA that your earlier cars didn't have to deal with but now that you're driving a "new" car you gotta do the biannual antsy-dance. At least now you've got two years coming of peace of mind.

BTW, did you ever get the quarter panel matched? Your car looked great in the picture you posted but it only showed the front.

Qtr isn't matched YET, but, it's on the short list of things to get done this year.

I know how you feel! Mine passed smog a week ago. It was a CA car for 30 years, went to CT for a year and I just bought it and brought back to CA on the 13th. Smog was my worst fear. You never know who you are going to get. The guy was cool, let it idle for quite some time to heat up the CAT and long story short, it passed! Good for two years!

I'm in Mexico City right now and the cars are smog tested every six months. And depending on how clean it is depends on how many days of the week you can drive it. They need it here though the smog is the WORST. I have a little Mercedes A class here and it's still clean enough to drive everyday (2002).

Getting the cat hot is the trick.
I spent a good half hour at 70 on the freeway getting home about an hour prior to taking the test. Numbers are very encouraging for the long haul I think. This ones a keeper.
